The conditional cash transfer which was part of the promises made by President Muhammadu Buhari during his live broadcast address to the nation on March 29, 2020.
The conditional cash transfer to the most vulnerable Nigerians was spearhead by the Honorable Minister of Humanitarian affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouk.
The development was necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic which has caused the government to announce a 14 days lockdown of Lagos state, Ogun state and Abuja.
Honorable Minister Sadiya Umar Farouk flagged off the disbursement of N20,000 conditional cash transfer to the poorest Nigerians today at Kwali central pay point, Kwali area council in Abuja today April 1, 2020.

The fund was distributed in cash rather than through bank accounts as insinuated before now, the reason for this physical cash disbursement was gathered that the beneficiaries are mostly aged people who do not operate a bank account.
Several Nigerians has doubted the transparency of the cash transfer as proper accountability might not be feasible.
This act of kindness from the President Muhammadu Buhari administration will be a welcome development in the mind of the beneficiaries and also will further clear doubts about this administration seriousness in it fight against coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
The beneficiaries were full of thanks to the Honorable Minister, the Kwali Central pay point was fully packed with people mostly women and the elderly waiting for their own cash to paid by the officials in charge of the conditional cash transfer.
